Developing a Daily Routine for a Healthier Lifestyle
Alexis Noelle
Hey Y'all! Welcome back to the blog!
Today I wanted to talk about something that has been so important for me lately, especially during this time that the entire world is going through with quarantine.
I've said it so many times. It can be difficult to keep a positive mind frame when you are unemployed, have sick family or friends, or just simply going insane from being stuck at home all day, every day. (I can definitely relate to all of these)
If you don't already have a daily routine or just a morning routine that is dedicated to developing positivity and good mental health...you NEED this!
Let's talk about some things you can implement into your daily life, that will develop healthy habits and just an overall positive attitude.
1. Wake up with positivity.
It is common for humans to wake up in the morning and immediately think of all the negatives and stress that is in their life. This can really start your day off on the wrong foot. Try waking up tomorrow and immediately think of something positive or something that makes you happy. If you continue to do this, it can easily turn into a habit. After all, it takes 21 days to develop a habit right? That amount of time is nothing!
2. Eat a nutritious breakfast.
For me, I don't typically get to eat breakfast until about 10 or 11am because of intermittent fasting. Its so easy for me to grab the greasiest food because of how hungry I am, but I have to tell myself that my body is craving healthy and nutritious food. This goes for everyone. If you are starving, try beginning your day with a hot tea or lemon water. This will fill you up some so that your urge for greasy food is not as strong.
3. Meditate.
Meditating is so underrated! I'll be honest, one of the very first things I do in the morning is to grab my phone and check social media. This is so bad for you!! It trains your brain that you cannot be idle. Meditating is so good for mental health, and there are so many apps that help and train you through it (The Calm app and Headspace are some that I have heard of).
4. Journal.
I have been journaling since I was about 8 years old, honestly! This is ONLY for you, no one will see it. You can take all your negative thoughts out on paper. But not only that, its a great way to track your self-improvement over time. Start by writing down 1. how you are feeling that day, 2. what you are grateful for, and 3. goals you have (long and short term). Do this every day! And of course, you can add anything else you are feeling that day.
5. Give yourself time to relax.
Not only should you be giving yourself time to relax, especially if you live a fast and busy life. But, you should give yourself at least an hour dedicated to bettering yourself each day. It can be working out, reading a book, going on a walk, or just having a talk with your spouse.
I hope that you can somehow implement some of these things into your daily life. I can guarantee you it will help with your mental health and attitude.
